After over 20 years of rehabilitating members of the armed forces and elite sportsmen and women, Karl wanted to develop his interest in and passion for animals, so trained and qualified as a veterinary physiotherapist. His MSc research project investigated outcome measures following cranial cruciate surgery, work that will be very useful in future physiotherapy research.
Karl has had many years of training various categories of dogs. Developing his own enthusiasm for gundogs, he is currently training his own German Short-Haired Pointer for field trials.
Karl taught students on the Veterinary Physiotherapy course from the Royal Veterinary College (RVC) and offers a wide range of treatments and performance-enhancement programmes for canine and equine athletes.
As a Veterinary Physiotherapist Karl has trained and worked in human practice before specialising in working with animals. His considerable experience gained in the human field developed skill sets that were transferable to animals. This, combined with extensive training in the assessment and treatment of injured and lame animals, makes him an expert in the biomechanics of animal movement.
