Panosteitis as a puppy
Grace was presented to the Veterinary Surgery at 5 months of age with a history of non specific lameness. Panosteitis (inflammation of the bone) was suspected because Grace was suffering from shifting lameness and being a large breed was prone to this condition.
Initially rest was advised when a flare up occurred along with hydrotherapy. If there had been no improvement in her condition the next step in Grace’s diagnosis would have been radiographs to examine her bone density along with non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS).

Fortunately for Grace a distinct improvement in her condition was observed. Grace has continued to grow at a rapid rate and has experienced no further problems but she does however continue weekly sessions in the Aquatic Underwater Treadmill.
Her muscle mass remains extremely stable at 43cm on both the left and the right hind limbs.
